Hello everyone, I hope things are going well with your families. I have been down myself but my family seems to be doing well. Jay is doing much better in school and the neo seems to really be helping. Damion on the other hand is struggling in sience but I think it is more lake of effort then anything. So I will keep you posted. I pray he will get his act together before too much longer. Let me know how you and your families are. Blessings, Bonnie RIC

I pray that things are progressing now.  I've never heard of the Neo - sounds like it's a good tool for him to use.

 Keep us posted!

Thanks for your prayers. We did have an Iep Meeting and it went okay. I have an issue with some of the teachers because they were not fallowing the rules from the last Iep meeting but we will see what happens this time around. I am gonna give it till confrence time. that is a month away so we should see some improvement by then. they did give Jay a Neo to use. So that seems to be helping alot. It is like a little lap top computer that will help him with less writting sice he struggles real bad in this area. At first I wasn't sure about it because I thought he needs the practice but this is one of the areas we struggle with the most and the school pshologist said that it is not that Jay don't know how to write it is that he struggles with it being readable. So she said it is not like we were giving up on him. So he seems to like it and does well with it so I am not gonna question it for now. Thanks Again and I will keep you all posted. Bonnie RIC

I would definitely recommend getting an IEP.  I know in my state & school they provide so much for the kids that need additional help in school.

What I've heard is that they might fight it at first - but keep plugging along.  Keep pushing and praying!

My understanding is that if your child has special needs that the IEP has to provide you with the services that you need at no cost to you. This may vary from state to state. RIC

Thaks ~ if that is what the Lord wants us to do. I am gonna be praying on this issue. I also was told that if I request at the IEP Meeting for a tutor for Jay that they will have to provide that for him. Is that true do you know? They were pretty much telling me that if Jay is in the IEP then they have to pretty much do whatever I request for him to have. I was just wondering if you have heard that? Thanks Bonnie RIC

I think most school systems are already overloaded with too many kids and too few teachers. It's easy for someone to be lost in the cracks.  I hope you can find someone to homeschool for you. RIC

Thanks Dear! I know that it will work out. I am also looking into finding someone maybe to home school my youngest. Because I am not a teacher. But with his learning disability and the ADHD he needs more of a one on one and I am not sure the school can do that. Thank you all for your prayers, they are much needed and I know they are helping. I agree, Bonnie  - it's not easy any way you look at it.  My 5th grader is doing pre-algebra and I haven't a clue how to do it.  I can't help her at all, my brain doesn't work that way.  Thank the Good Lord my husband knows math well and I have a friend who is a math teacher I can call.  Use your resources - if you have to use a tutor - do it.  It's for your childs future.  Just don't call it a tutor.  I made that mistake with my daughters music teacher over the summer.  Ugghh.  Instructor - special helper - I'm sure you could come up with a cool name, something a boy would like.  smiley-sealed

 You are in my prayers.

Bonnie,  Don't be down on yourself.  You are already loving and patient. I can tell by your posts.  Believe me when it comes to teaching kids school stuff at the end of a long day, I can relate.  I have said before that I wonder how important all this math and stuff is. I can just buy a calculator for them. LOL.  But, trying to teach kids, whether they have ADHD or not, something they are not interested in is not easy especially when they would rather be playing etc.  All you can do is keep plugging away at it and trust God with the rest.  Know that you are not alone.  I struggle with these same homework lack of patience issues myself. Hello Ladies ~ I am coming for a prayer request for my younger son Jay. He has ADHD and it has been a long road. First I want to say that I was one of those mom's who didn't belive in this and thought that DR. just put kids on this medicen for the sake of the teachers. I am so sorry for every thinking that. My son has been on medicen since the end of K. and he is know in the 4th grade. Ontop  of having this he also has a learnong disability. So he is in special ed 2 hours of every day. Which has helped him alot. Before the meds he should have not even really gone to the 1st grade cause he didn't know how to say his abc's and count or write his name. He has come along way but he is still doing alot of 2 and 3rd grade work in the 4th grade. Which is okay with me cause I want to make sure he is understanding. But I have a hard time with teaching school stuff cause I am not that great at it myself. And sometimes I truely don'r have the patientce it takes. I do not want to be the cause of my kids stuggles either and I feel as though I am hurting him more then helping him. My husband and I are considering asking for a tutor or something. But by doing this I don't want to hurt him emotionaly either. Please pray that God will lead us with what is best for Jay. Sometimes I think God is trying to teach me that I need to be more loving and patient. Thanks again to all of you. Blessings Bonnie RIC

Wow, ten kids. I am praying already!

LBG, I can't get my boys interested in books either. I love to read and sometimes it bothers me that they don't. I feel like they are missing out.

Well it has been awhile since I have been on here but I do love the catching up. I just got such a kick out of the bisicut story and the Laundry. You guys are so funny. We really do wonder if we are doing our part when it comes to training them, lol. LovedbyGod ~ I only have boys but I can tell you this, my son has changed he is 12 now but right around that age is when he started the pre ~ teen stuff. Boy, can you say attitude. We ahve stuggled also with the homework and the likeing of girls ect... But we went and talked with our Pastor and he was very helpful. Carpenter ~ My church has what is called the one way club, same thing as Awanna and it is lots of fun for them and they will be starting that very soon also. Well, school time is always a great time for me,lol. Cause by the time summer is over I am so ready. But I babysit for 6 kids so it is not that I don't enjoy my kids cause I do but I am also very ready for the fighting and screaming between them to be over, lol. I hate to play the ref. Anyway, my kids are in bed by 9 and 9:30pm. I am very happy with the way the year is going thus far. My younger son has ADHD and so homework can be a bit of a challange but this year has been going real good. We started giving him his meds at 6:60 with dinner and by 7 or 7:30pm he is ready for homework. Where as before we were trying to do hom, ework when I still had kids and it just didn't go so well. I sure wish you all well and I will be praying for all of you's. Blessings, Bonnie.  P.S. I have to tell ya all that Jackie8 is my cousion and she just found out the shae is carring twins. So that will make 10 kids for her. Please pray for her, I know she is struggling with this pregancy. Thanks. RIC
