Group Description

I love pets of all kinds. I want to create a place where everyone can talk about their animal companions. I am handicapped, so my pets are almost vital to my sanity! I have a dog, 2 cats, 2 cockateils, and a rat. My rats companion died about a month ago, so he is alone now, but really too old and set in his ways to get him another companion. I love him very much, however, so his days are far from lonely! RIC

This group was formed on 7/10/07.

I have a cockatiel, a rat terrier, a dachsund and a rat terrier mix dachsund (we didn't do it haha) I use to have a ball python but with so much going on in my life I could not create the time to socialize with him and they definitely like to be sociable so I found him a wonderful new home and I also had a Rat named Soo-Z but she caught pnemonia and even with 2 weeks (2 rounds) of antibiotic she didn't make it. Hi Everyone!  I just joined this neighborhood today.  I have a wonderful Australian Cattle Dog named Coral.  She is 5 yrs. and we rescued her off the streets 2 years ago in March.  She is so funny!  My boyfriend and I work full time jobs so my mommy is a saint by "dogsitting" her while we are at work.  I welcome any comments about their awsome pets.  Talk to you later.  RIC

I have a lop eared rabbit.  She is wonderful.  At this point, that's the only pet my husband and I are able to have.  We have incredibly long working days with quite a long commute as well.  Not fesible for us to have any dogs at this point, but we will someday! RIC

Hello, this is my first day using the TCW groups mail.  I recently retired after being an RN for nearly 30 years.  My early retirement was due to back and other health problems.  I have always worked so I amstill getting adjusted to being home.  I and my husband curently have 2 dogs.  They are both rescued from shelters and very special to us.  We had 3 other dogs that we lost since New Years Day; a 14 year old Dalmation who died on New Years Eve this year.  He had been with us since he was a puppy.  In April. we lost a 12 year old mixed dog we had had for 10 years.  Then just 2 weeks later, lost our 17 year old terrier mix that I had since he was 6 mo. old.  The last 2 were having numerous health problems that was causing them pain and suffering.  Thye decision to have them put down was the hardest thing we have done.  They were  so special. Their death left us with 1 male sheperd-mix that we found on the street about 6 years ago. He had been 1 of 4 dogs for several years and he was very lonely and depressed.  I knew he needed a new Canine Friend.  After reviewing several web sites of Rescue Groups, we found a wonderful, young friend for him and he has been more active and smiles more now. We are truely blessed.

Hi ILJ!  It is so nice to meet you!  I have had several birds as well, from parakeets while a child, to african grey and quaker parrots while living in Iowa, before I had to leave them behind.  I had to leave them because I was moving to Sweden, but I left them with loving families that I knew quite well.  I feel for you, not being able to have a pet now.  I know they bring much joy and comfort to someone living in constant pain and disability.
