Dear Ones...

Anybody out there?  I was diagnosed with type 2 about 6 months ago.  I'm finding I'm sooooo tired all the time ... and really struggling with the side effects of the meds I'm on.  It's hard to keep a positive mindset--but I'm not giving up.  Just struggling...

Hi Everyone,

I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic in 1996. I go through times when I just don't care and stop taking care of myself. Unfortunately I have had two cataract operations in the last two years and just spent two months in the hospital and a nursing home  because I didn't take care of  serious cut on my big toe on my left foot. It got very badly infected and I almost lost my toe. So anyone who feels it isn't woeth taking care of yourself, please don't neglect yourself. Don't wait until you almost loose a toe or get other complications . You are worth it!

Hi Everybody!!!

well, today was the 2nd. day back in school for my kids and I have to say, as much as I love having them home for extended amounts of time, yes, I have to admit, it is kinda nice to have a little more time to do the things I not only have to do, but also like to do. I hope everyone is doing well and you all will stop by again soon so we can begin some dialogue. I myself am doing ok at the moment I guess....Tammy, first thoughts of maybe discussing pills to help control my glucose levels  are sneaking into my head the past couple of days....I'm still hesitant though or maybe just scared. I'm not one that likes to take meds..heck, I don't even like going to the Dr.,lol. Praise God, he never leaves us or forsakes us. Thank you Jesus!

Blessings to all,

Petra

Where two or three are gathered together in my Name, there I am also.....so let's gather in Jesus' Name and see what God will do in us and through us.

Hi My husband and I have got Type 2 daibetes.

Ive got two kids one aged 4 and the other aged 9 months.

We started to go to the gym to work out 4 times a week. We both work in the Finance field which gets us into a lot of stress, tensions etc.

I am joining this group as I have Type 2 Diabetes.  I was diagnosed a year ago.  I went to join a research study for Pre diabetes and was informed I was already diabetic.  I joined a research study for diabetics.  I just completed my first year and have decided to go forward for another year.  I have lost 20 lbs which helped with a lot of the symptoms I was having.  I still need to lose more weight. I still struggle with diet and eating properly.  I am trying to get more exercise, but it is hard.  I am a registed nurse and work nights, that makes it really hard to maintain my diet and blood sugar levels. I am joining this group even though I have type 1 diabetes.  I struggle with the mood swiings, diet and exercise.  My husband is also tye 1 and we both weer insluin pumps.  Many people do not realize that this diease affects all parts of ones life.  Having a good doctor is the first step, also a good diabetic educator.  Check to see if there is a Diabetes Expo coming to your area in the next year they have great resources.  Me myself there are days when I could have cheesecake for alll meal.  Stay in prayer and love you all   more than cheesecake RIC

I'm so thankful that I can be used of God in blessing you.  It must be hard not having your family here, not only for this matter but in all matters of life.  My maternal grandmother had diabetes as well, as does my mom and now both my brother and I.  Thankfully, my brother is the only one thus far to have severe complications.  I spoke to him yesterday and he is frustrated that he still has no strength in his legs and his feet often are numb and i didn't have the heart to tell him that the damage to his feet probably will not improve.  I just pray he takes it all seriously enough to change his lifestyle to prevent any more damage.  As for us, we need to remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of peace and all we have in our power to do is trust Him one day at a time to do our best.  I pray that you will experience His peace and calm today as you continue to get things ready for school and manage the rest of your hectic schedule.

Blessings,

Tammy

Oh you are so welcome! I will pray for his salvation . You, my dear, are a very big Blessing to me. You may or may not have an idea of how glad I am to be able to talk to you about our ups and downs. It's not an easy road to travel, with all the potential health concerns that could affect us down the road unless God heals us.Yes, I still consider this disease a Blessing, but I do ask God for healing daily. My Mom's Mom had diabetes and lived with it for probably 20 or even 30 years. Now 2 of my mom's brothers have it as well. My Family lives in Germany where I am from, so I don't get to talk to them too often and as of yet I have not had the heart to tell my Mom about having Diabetes as well. I know she is a worrier and the fact that she can't be here and take care of me is going to get to her if I do tell her, and since she has her own health issues, I am more than hesitant to go that road. Well, I better go. I have to get my daughter from work.

Blessings,

Petra

Thanks for your prayers for my brother.  We were able to get him in to a different doctor who ended up prescribing insulin for him and drawing a bunch of blood to check his liver and pancreas, etc.  He is feeling much better and is thankfully still shakin up so hopefully he will change his ways and realize there is so much more to live for in this life than anesthetising your pain and that there is an eternity after that for which he must prepare.  We'll just have to keep praying for him, that's for sure.  Thanks again, you have been such a blessing! Never mind me asking if he's seen a Dr. since. I just rechecked your message and saw that he won't see the Dr. until next week. I'll be in prayer.

Love & Hugs,

Petra

O dear. I will pray for him, rest assured. Over 500..wow, that is dangerously high. I thought my levels of 275 when I was diagnosed was high. Has he been to see a dr. since his emergency room visit? I understand the drinking does not help....you must be very concerned for him, I imagine.

Lord, I lift to you my precious' sister's brother and the physical and spiritual needs he has at this time, Father. We ask that you come and surround him and reveal your presence and love to him. In Jesus' Name we ask for his healing but especially for the surrender of his life to you as you work in his heart through your Spirit and through the witness of his dear family. Show yourself mighty in this situation that your Name be glorified, in Jesus Name. Amen

Be blessed and comforted, Sister

Petra

Hi Petra,

This post isn't related to my own diabetes but that of my brother's.  He had no idea he was diabetic and I'm not totally convinced he has true Type 2, but the damage has been done nonetheless.  You see, he is an alcoholic and frequently does not feel well or gets very sick.  We've talked and prayed, witnessed and then prayed some more, but he continues to drink.  He has lost almost everything over the years - his health, his daughter at times, financially he is barely solvent, has no license, needs dental work so badly I don't know how he can stand it, etc.  He was taken to the emergency room last Thursday and his blood sugar was above 500.  They gave him a shot of insulin, a prescription for Metformin and sent him on his way.  Unfortunately, it appears he has had imbalanced blood sugar for a long time as he has neuropathy in his legs and hands, vision problems, is constantly cold, sleeps constantly, etc.   Such a shame.  I am praying that this is his wake-up call - he says he is tired of feeling this way but is still drinking (and then wonders why the Metformin isn't working)  We couldn't get him in to the doctor until the 29th; hopefully they will just admit him to a program or something.  Thanks for your prayers, they are so truly appreciated.

Oh boy, yes! On some days I would just like to sit down and scarf down a bowl of ice cream and not have to worry what it's going to do to my glucose levels...oh man, don't get me going, lol... but yes, there are worse things and we do have the hope of Heaven in our future. I wonder if there are ice cream sundaes in Heaven??...hmm...lol ! I'm having a crazy day...cleaning and doing laundry. My youngest daughter is having a "High School Movie 2" Premier Party tonight so we've ( well I anyway ) been spending the day getting everything ready. My husband and son are going to flee the house sometime tonight to go watch a Movie.  And my oldest daughter will have her friend come over as well to spend the night..hopefully I can make it to bed before mid-night smiley-innocent . Ok then, have a wonderful evening and enjoy your family.

B;essings, Petra
